ERP

In Arabic نظام تخطيط موارد المؤسسات (ERP)

ERP, or enterprise resource planning, is software that runs a business’s core processes, such as sales, purchasing, stock and accounting, in one system on shared data.

In plain words

Without an ERP, each department keeps its own tool: sales in one, stock in a spreadsheet, the books in an accounting package. The same order is typed three times, the figures disagree, and month end is spent reconciling them. An ERP records each event once and lets every department read the same record.

A sale in an ERP reduces stock, raises the customer’s balance and posts to the ledger in one step, and a purchase does the same on the buying side. Modules cover each area and share customers, items, prices and accounts, so nothing has to be exported from one to another.

The common mistake is choosing an ERP built for a different kind of business and bending it to fit. A distributor needs vans, routes, lots and credit control at the core; a system that treats them as add-ons leaves the field on paper and spreadsheets.
