In Arabic تسوية المخزون
A stock adjustment is a document that raises or lowers the recorded quantity of an item in a location, to match the physical stock after a count, damage or loss.
Stock goes missing, breaks, expires or turns up where nobody recorded it. An adjustment brings the books back to what is on the shelf. Unlike a transfer, it changes the total the company holds, so it also changes the value of stock.
Each adjustment should carry a reason, such as a count difference, damage or expiry, and post at cost: a shortfall as a loss, a surplus as a gain. Many businesses let staff enter adjustments but require a manager to approve them before they post.
The common mistake is using adjustments to fix what should have been a transfer or a return. The quantities agree, but the loss account fills with movements that were never losses, and the real shrinkage is hidden among them.
In Axon Suite
In Axon Suite closing an approved cycle count posts the differences as one stock adjustment at cost, a shortfall as a loss and a surplus as a gain against the inventory account.
Open a count for a warehouse or a single bin and fill the sheet from what the books hold. Counters enter what they find, a reviewer approves, and the difference posts as one adjustment at cost.
