A quantity break is a point on a price list at which the unit price drops because the customer buys at least a set quantity of the item.
Quantity breaks reward bigger orders without a separate discount. A price list might charge 9.00 a carton from one carton, 8.40 from 50 and 7.90 from 100. Each step is a break, and the customer sees exactly what ordering more would save.
In the usual method the whole line takes the price of the highest break it reaches: 64 cartons are all priced at 8.40, not the first 49 at 9.00. Some sellers use incremental tiers instead, but customers find those harder to check.
The common mistake is setting breaks in one unit and selling in another. A break at 50 pieces is reached far sooner than one at 50 cartons, so a list built for cartons gives away margin the moment someone orders by the piece.
In Axon Suite
In Axon Suite each item and unit on a price list can carry several prices at rising minimum quantities, and a line takes the highest break it reaches.
Build sales and purchase price lists in their own currency, with or without VAT in the price, valid between two dates. Give a customer or vendor a list of their own or let them trade on your default, and price each item by unit with lower prices from a quantity up.
