Return authorisation

In Arabic تفويض الإرجاع

A return authorisation, often called an RMA, is the seller’s approval for a customer to send goods back, given before the return is accepted into the warehouse.

In plain words

A return authorisation is the gate in front of the return itself. The sales return records goods coming back; the authorisation decides whether they may come back at all, which items, how many and on what grounds.

The request usually names the original invoice, the items, the quantities and their condition. Once it is approved, the goods are received and inspected, and only then does the customer get a refund, a credit or another outcome.

The common mistake is accepting goods at the door before anyone has approved them. The warehouse then holds stock nobody agreed to take back, and the dispute starts after the goods are already yours.

How Axon Suite handles it

In Axon Suite a return is raised against the original invoice and approved, or rejected, before anything comes back. Once the goods are received you choose a refund or store credit.

Feature

Sales returns and credit notes

Raise the return against the original invoice, approve it and receive the goods back into the warehouse. Then decide what the customer gets: a refund, store credit or a replacement. A refund or store credit posts a credit note against that invoice.
