In Arabic أمر البيع
A sales order is a seller’s confirmed record of what a customer has agreed to buy, at what price and when, before the goods are shipped and invoiced.
The sales order is the commitment that sets everything else moving. It tells the warehouse what to reserve and pick, tells delivery what to send, and tells finance what will be invoiced. It is not itself a demand for payment.
An order usually goes from draft to confirmed, then through shipping and invoicing, which may happen in several parts, until it is closed. Credit and stock are normally checked when it is saved, not when the truck is loaded.
The common mistake is invoicing straight from the order instead of from what was shipped. When a line ships short, the customer is billed for goods they never received.
In Axon Suite
In Axon Suite an order can ship in parts, each invoice is drawn from goods that have left the warehouse, and the order closes itself once it is shipped and billed in full.
A shipment opens from the order with everything still to go, and you send the lines and quantities that are ready. The order shows as partially shipped, each invoice is drawn from goods that have left, and the order closes itself once it is shipped and billed in full.
