In Arabic المخزون المتوفر
Stock on hand is the quantity of an item physically held in a warehouse, bin or van at a given moment, whether or not it is promised to an order.
Stock on hand is the starting point for almost every stock question: can we ship, should we buy, what is it worth. It is counted per item and per location, because 200 cartons spread over three warehouses do not help a customer waiting at one of them.
In a stock system it is the sum of all posted movements in and out of the location up to a cut-off: the opening balance, plus receipts and transfers in, minus issues and transfers out, plus or minus adjustments. Reading it as at a past date means counting only the movements up to that day.
The common mistake is treating stock on hand as stock you can sell. Part of it may be held for orders already taken, so promising the whole figure to a new customer sells the same carton twice. For that question, look at available stock.
In Axon Suite
Axon Suite rebuilds stock on hand as it stood at any day’s close from the posted movements, by warehouse, category or item. Each warehouse shows its figure summed across its bins, and vans appear as stock locations of their own.
Pick a date and Axon Suite rebuilds stock on hand as it stood at that day’s close, from the movements themselves. Narrow it by warehouse, category or item, and open the stock card to see every movement behind the figure.
