In Arabic حركة المخزون
A stock movement is a recorded change to the quantity of an item in one location, such as a receipt, an issue, a transfer or an adjustment.
Movements are the raw history of stock. Every figure built on them, from stock on hand to stock value and cost of goods sold, is their sum. When a figure looks wrong, the answer is in the movements behind it, provided each one names the document that caused it.
A receipt moves goods in, a sale or delivery moves them out, a transfer moves them out of one place and into another, and an adjustment corrects the quantity after a count. Each records the item, location, quantity, date and cost, and once posted it is reversed by a new movement rather than edited.
The common mistake is editing or deleting a posted movement to fix an error. The history then no longer explains the balance, and a past month stops reading the way it did. Void or reverse it, so the error and its correction both stay on the record.
In Axon Suite
In Axon Suite a transfer takes stock out of one place and puts it into the other in the same posting. Each line on an item’s stock card carries the document number and type that moved the goods, with the balance after it.
A transfer names where the goods leave and where they land: another warehouse, another bin in the same warehouse, or a rep’s van. Posting it takes the stock out and puts it in at once, so nothing is lost between two entries.
