How a sequence is shaped

  1. Pick the document

Each document type has its own sequence in each subsidiary.

  2. Write the template

Mix fixed text with tokens for the subsidiary code, year, fiscal year, quarter, month, day and the user’s initials, plus the counter.

  3. Preview

See sample numbers from the next counter before saving. Nothing is used up.

  4. Save

Every number issued from then on follows the new template.

Details that matter

Mistakes caught on save

A template with an unknown token, an unclosed brace or no counter is refused, with the position of the problem.

Fiscal year, not just calendar

The fiscal-year token follows the subsidiary’s own fiscal year start.

A ceiling if you want one

Set a highest number, and a sequence that reaches it stops issuing rather than overrunning.

Questions buyers ask

Do two subsidiaries share a sequence?

No. Each subsidiary has its own, so invoice numbers never collide between companies.

Does the preview use up numbers?

No. It shows sample numbers and allocates nothing.

Are changes to a sequence recorded?

Yes. Edits and resets of a sequence go into the audit log with who made them and when.
