A field supervisor is the manager of a team of field sales reps, responsible for their routes, coverage, sales and cash, and for coaching them on the road.
Reps work alone, out of sight of the office. The supervisor is the link: they see who started late, which customers were missed and whose cash does not add up, and step in the same day rather than at the month-end review.
A supervisor’s day usually starts with the figures: visits planned and made, sales, collections and exceptions for each rep. Part of the day is spent riding with a rep, and part on approvals such as end-of-day closes and changes to plans.
The common mistake is managing reps by sales figures alone. A rep can hit target from three large customers while thirty small ones go unvisited, and only coverage figures show it before those customers are lost.
In Axon Suite
In Axon Suite the field dashboard shows each rep’s visits, sales and collections for the day, a list of what needs attention, the customers nobody has visited for two or four weeks, and a map of where each rep last reported.
