Credit limits that hold the order, not the argument
Every order is checked against the customer’s limit the moment it is saved, in the office and in the rep’s app. Over the limit, it is held for someone with approval rights or refused, as your settings say.

How a held order moves
Set the limit
Each customer carries a credit limit. A limit of zero means no limit.
Save the order
What the customer has been invoiced less what they have paid, plus the new order, is compared with the limit.
Held or refused
Your sales settings decide whether an order over the limit waits on hold or is refused outright.
Release
Only a user whose role holds approval rights on sales orders can release the hold. Releasing it confirms the order.
Details that matter
The same rule in the van
A rep’s order over the limit is held or refused exactly as in the office, and an invoice over the limit is refused.
Approval is a permission
Releasing a hold needs the Approve level on sales orders, granted through the user’s role.
Payments count straight away
The open balance is what was invoiced less what was paid, so a collection frees credit for the next order.
Questions buyers ask
Can a sales rep get round the limit?
No. The check runs on the server when the order is saved, from the rep app and from the office alike.
Who can release an order on hold?
Only a user whose role holds approval rights on sales orders. Releasing the hold confirms the order.
What does a limit of zero mean?
No limit. The customer’s orders are not checked against a credit figure.
