Only the people you trust can sell off the list

A price typed away from the list, a header discount past your maximum, or a line discount while line discounts are switched off all need the price-override permission. Without it the document is refused, on the preview and on save alike, from the office or the rep app.

Refused · Refused: selling away from the list needs override permission

How the permission works

  1. Grant it

Price override is the Edit level on price calculation, given through the user’s role.

  2. Set the limits

In sales settings, set the maximum header discount and whether line discounts are allowed.

  3. Price the document

Each typed price is compared with the list, and each discount with your limits.

  4. Refused or accepted

Without the permission, anything outside the limits is refused with the reason. With it, the price stands.

Details that matter

Checked on the server

The same check runs on preview and on save, so no screen can slip a price past it.

The screen follows the grant

In the office, the price field on a line is locked for users without the permission.

Rep ceilings still hold

A rep’s own discount ceiling applies even to a user who holds the override permission.

Questions buyers ask

Can we switch line discounts off?

Yes. With line discounts off in sales settings, only users with the override permission can give one.

What if the item is on no price list?

Then the typed price is used, and no permission is needed, as there is no list price to depart from.

Does it apply to purchases?

No. On purchase documents a typed price stands. The override check is for selling.
