Prices with VAT in, books with VAT out

Mark a price list as VAT-inclusive and every line priced from it carries the VAT inside the price. Axon Suite takes the VAT out at each line’s own rate, and the document keeps its price terms from quote to order to invoice.

How VAT-inclusive pricing works

  1. Mark the list

Set the price list to VAT included.

  2. Price the document

The first time a document is priced it takes the list’s terms, inclusive or not, and keeps them.

  3. VAT comes out

Each line’s net is its price less the VAT its own tax rate contains.

  4. Terms travel

An order from a quote, and an invoice or return drawn from another document, keep that document’s terms.

Details that matter

Lists and documents can differ

An inclusive list on an exclusive document, or the reverse, is converted to the document’s terms line by line.

Each line at its own rate

Lines at different rates, zero-rated ones included, each have their own VAT taken out.

Discounts off what is paid

A line discount stated as an amount comes off the VAT-inclusive total the customer sees.

Questions buyers ask

Can one customer buy VAT-inclusive and another not?

Yes. Give each their own price list, one marked VAT-inclusive and one not.

If the list changes terms later, do open documents change?

No. A document keeps the terms it was first priced with.

Does it work on purchase lists?

Yes. A purchase price list can be VAT-inclusive too, and the VAT is taken out of the cost the same way.
