A bin location is a specific, named spot inside a warehouse, such as a shelf, rack position or floor bay, where stock is stored and recorded.
A warehouse balance says how much you hold; a bin says where to find it. With bins, a picker walks straight to A-01-03 instead of searching the aisles, and a count can cover one shelf at a time rather than the whole building.
Bins are usually coded by zone, aisle, rack and level, so the code reads like an address. Goods are put away into a bin when they arrive, picked from a bin when they leave, and moved between bins by transfer, so each bin keeps its own balance.
The common mistake is putting goods away in one bin and recording them in another, or in none. The system then sends pickers to empty shelves while the stock sits a few metres away, and the next count finds both bins wrong.
In Axon Suite
In Axon Suite each warehouse has its own bins. A goods receipt names the bin each line goes to or uses the warehouse’s default receiving bin, and a transfer can move stock between bins in the same warehouse.
Open the approved order and the receipt fills itself with what is still to come. Put it into bins, enter lots or serials where the item is tracked, and take part now and the rest later. A receipt past the ordered quantity is refused.
Open: Receive against the order, never over it
