Receive what was ordered, and not one carton more
Open the approved order and the receipt fills itself with what is still to come. Put it into bins, enter lots or serials where the item is tracked, and take part now and the rest later. A receipt past the ordered quantity is refused.

How goods come in
Pick the order
Choose an approved order. Each stocked line comes in with the quantity still to receive.
Put it away
Name the bin each line goes to, or let it land in the warehouse’s default receiving bin.
Enter lots or serials
Tracked items take their lot or serial numbers, and a new lot its expiry date.
Post
Stock rises at the order’s agreed cost, and the order shows partly or fully received.
Details that matter
Cost comes from the order
A receipt line takes the order line’s net price as its cost; nobody types it again.
Safe at the same moment
Two receipts posted together against the same line can’t both pass the ordered quantity.
In the ledger straight away
Posting debits inventory and credits goods received not yet billed, until the vendor’s bill arrives.
Questions buyers ask
Can one order arrive in several deliveries?
Yes. Each receipt takes what arrived, and the order shows partly received until the rest comes in.
What if the vendor sends more than we ordered?
The receipt is refused beyond the ordered quantity. Raise a new order for the extra goods.
Can we receive against an order that isn’t approved?
No. Receiving needs an approved order.
