Route sales is a field sales model in which reps serve their customers along a repeating route, calling on each outlet on set days to sell, deliver or take orders.
Route sales is the operating model; van sales and presales are the two usual ways of running it. In both, the customer knows when the rep will come and the rep knows which outlets to serve each day, so ordering becomes a habit rather than a call.
Routes are drawn so that each day’s outlets sit close together and each customer is seen as often as their sales justify. The route then becomes the rep’s journey plan, followed stop by stop and measured against what was done.
The common mistake is letting routes grow by accident. New customers are added wherever a rep happens to be, until a day takes too long to finish and the last stops are skipped every week.
In Axon Suite
In Axon Suite each rep’s customers are put on weekdays from a map, in visiting order, and at local midnight each weekday’s plan becomes the rep’s route for the day in the rep app.
Put each rep’s customers on weekdays from a map, in the order they are visited. At midnight in your time zone the plan becomes that day’s route in the rep app. A skipped stop needs a reason, and unplanned visits are counted apart from planned ones.
