The lot that expires first leaves first
Lot-tracked items carry their expiry and manufacture dates from the day they arrive. When a line names no lot, Axon Suite takes the soonest-expiring stock in the bin, so nobody has to remember which pallet is short-dated.

How a lot moves through the warehouse
Track the item by lot
Set the item to lot or serial tracking. Once stock has moved, the tracking type is fixed.
Receive with dates
A new lot must state its expiry date on the receipt, with its manufacture date if you have it.
Issue without naming a lot
Stock leaves the bin soonest expiry first. Lots with no expiry go after those that have one, oldest made first.
Or name the lot
Name a lot on the line when the customer asks for it, and that lot is the one that leaves.
Details that matter
Quarantine bins stay out
When no bin is named, stock never leaves a quarantine, scrap or dock bin. Returns marked for quarantine go straight into one.
The bin covers the line or it stops
If the lots in the bin can’t cover the quantity, the line is refused rather than left short.
Dates are checked
A lot named again with a different expiry date from the one on file is refused.
Questions buyers ask
Do we have to type a lot number on every sale?
No. Leave it blank and Axon Suite picks the lots by expiry. Name one only when it matters.
Can a lot arrive without an expiry date?
Not a new lot. A receipt that brings in a lot for the first time must state when it expires.
Does first-expiry picking affect the cost?
Picking and costing are separate. Choose the first-expiry costing method on the item if you want cost to follow expiry too.
