Field reps work where coverage is weakest: basements, industrial areas, roads between towns. An app that stops at every dead spot stops the sale with it, so offline mode decides whether a rep can work a full route at all.
A sound offline mode queues each document on the phone, sends the queue in order once online, and gives every document a key so that a retry can never post it twice. The server still applies the business rules when each document arrives.
The common mistake is trusting what the phone decided while offline. Prices, credit and discounts worked out on the device can be stale, so the server must make the final check, or working offline becomes a way round the rules.
In Axon Suite
In the Axon Suite rep app, check-ins, orders, invoices, payments and returns are saved on the phone when there is no signal and sent once it returns, each only once. Loading the van and the end-of-day close need a connection.
Check-ins, orders, invoices, payments and returns are saved on the phone when there is no signal, then sent once it returns. Each one keeps the day of the sale and is sent only once, however often it has to retry.
